Job Description: BSEC Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) is a liaison between BSEC’s theme teams and community partners including residents, city, state, and federal agencies, non-profits, and businesses. It is expected that the CEC will attend community associations meetings, community engagement theme team meetings, and BSEC all-hands meetings. You will do outreach and run focus groups with faith communities, youth groups, community residents, and various other stakeholders. Recruit and organize Citizen Data Scientists and connect them to relevant theme teams. The CEC is expected to create educational opportunities for BSEC researchers to better understand the context of Baltimore City and its neighborhoods. Organize monthly virtual colloquiums that feature talks about Baltimore City regarding inequality in climate change and environmental injustice. Coordinate quarterly educational field trips around the city to familiarize BSEC researchers with Baltimore’s neighborhoods and community leaders and organizations. You will be responsible for the development and dissemination of a curated reading list that focuses on Baltimore (i.e., Black Butterfly by Dr. Lawrence Brown, Not In My Backyard: How Bigotry Shaped A Great American City, by Antero Pietila, etc.). Connect BSEC researchers with people and organizations throughout the city that are working on complementary activities is a priority for this position.
Qualifications: Experience with focus groups (qualitative analysis) and community organizing are highly desired. This position requires a well-organized person, with strong communication skills, who has an interest in climate change, community engagement/empowerment, and/or data science. Must demonstrate ability to work independently and collaboratively with university faculty researchers, external organizations, and residents is expected. The CEC requires a flexible schedule, with some evening and weekend hours and is in-person with opportunities for remote work. Personal transportation needed.

The Family Tree: Bilingual Technical Assistance Specialist

The Family Tree is seeking a bilingual technical assistance specialist! The position summary and responsibilities are as follows:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Technical Assistance Specialist provides services and support to individuals in targeted communities who are interested in and have the ability to become licensed family child care providers, as part of the state-wide initiatives Growing Opportunities in Family Child Care. Services are focused on the startup of quality family child care programs. 

The Technical Assistant Specialist is a collaborative partner with community agencies identifies as collaborators in this work. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• In collaboration with community partners, plan and conduct outreach sessions in targeted communities to recruit individuals interested in licensed family child care;

• In collaboration with community partners, plan and conduct support sessions for individuals participating in the Growing Opportunities in Family Child Care Program. Asist with all aspects of the licensing procedure to ensure the timely completion of requirements;

• Provides support in applying for and accessing Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) initiatives including Maryland Accreditation Project, Maryland Child Care Credential Program, Maryland Excels, Early Learning Assessment, Environmental Rating Scales, and others as identified;

• Establishes strong relationships with The Office of Child Care, Region II, and acts as a liaison;

• Assists in content development for CCRC newsletters focused on quality initiatives,

developmentally appropriate practices, teaching strategies, and other topics of interest and relevance for programs/providers;

• Documents all work and services utilizing the MCCRN Data System as directed by MFN; and

• Assists with events and outreach activities in support of the early childhood care and education community.

EDUCATION:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education, child development, or closely related field. Family child care experience a plus.

• Completion of a 3-credit (45 clock hour) course in Child Development and completion of a 3-credit (45 clock hour) course on Curriculum/Methods and Materials for Infant/Toddler, Preschool, and/or School-Age

  • Bilingual strongly preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

• 5 years’ experience in early childhood education program, licensed child care (center and/or family child care), school-age child care, Head Start/Early Head Start, or PreK education setting

Generations United’s National Center on Grandfamilies is seeking an Assistant Director to join their results-oriented team!

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities include:

  • Lead a cross-site Kinship Navigator Collaborative (KNC) of four states and three national organizations, including overseeing program and evaluation committees, planning and leading collaborative calls, creating a program manual, resources and tools, providing technical assistance to participating states, and collaborating with national partners.

  • Manage the professional grandfamilies advisory group of national, state, and local agencies and organizations.

  • Manage grants and contracts, including nurturing funder relationships, overseeing deliverables, writing proposals and reports, and reviewing financial statements.

  • Responsible for the development of grandfamilies publications, including the Annual State of Grandfamilies report, fact sheets, and educational materials.

  • Actively apply a diversity, equity and inclusion lens to all aspects of the work including through the use of the Racial Equity Impact Analysis tool.

  • Supervise staff and consultants working for the National Center on Grandfamilies.

  • Lead GRAND Voices network and other grandfamilies engagements.

  • Secure and manage contracts and provide training and technical assistance.

“The Outreach Coordinator for NAMI Metro Baltimore is responsible for the delivery of service of NAMI signature programs, NAMI Metro Baltimore programs, and NAMI Metro Baltimore Outreach initiatives, with a specific focus in West Baltimore. They will serve as a community liaison in West Baltimore and are responsible for developing relationships in the community with neighborhood associations, other nonprofit organizations, schools, places of worship, businesses, and providers. The Outreach Coordinator is charged with recruiting volunteers from the local community who are qualified and capable of effectively leading NAMI’s peer-based programs. They will ensure our programs are broadly marketed throughout the community.

The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of programs and for analyzing community needs and outcomes for programmatic efforts and recommending changes/adaptations as needed. They will accurately record data from NAMI programs and will provide timely reports to contract and grant funders as requested.

This part-time position (24 hours/week) will primarily be based out of The Factory in West Baltimore, with occasional travel to the NAMI Metro Baltimore headquarters in Remington and other off-site locations in West Baltimore. Counselor Position @ Center for Infant Study

The University of Maryland Department of Psychiatry has an opening for a Counselor in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry’s Center for Infant Study. The Counselor works under the supervision of a licensed professional and assists individuals and/or families in identifying, understanding and preventing mental health problems in young children, supports family wellness in a pediatric primary care clinic and in an outpatient mental health clinic setting. The Healthy Steps Counselor provides caregiver support to facilitate the development of attachment, self-regulation skills, and family resiliency through one-on-one and group interactions.

Essential Functions

  • Provide integrated care services as a Healthy Steps Specialist on evidence-based, trauma-informed services to children age 0-5 and their families receiving care in the Pediatrics at Midtown Clinic.

  • Provide trainings and information to pediatric primary care team and professionals on infant and early childhood mental health including adverse childhood experiences, early childhood development and family resilience

  • Consult with Pediatrics at Midtown faculty and staff and will be a part of an interdisciplinary health team.

  • Provides screening and assessments for parents and children and develops person centered intervention and treatment plans for a variety young child and family issues

  • Document client(s) progress in the electronic medical record, perform chart reviews and generate notes on evaluations, therapy sessions, grant reports and other accountability measures.

  • Provides care management for families

  • Lead parenting groups on evidenced based and promising practices.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
