East Baltimore Campus South Energy Plant Update

Johns Hopkins is planning the addition of a third Combined Heat and Power unit at the East Baltimore Campus South Energy Plant.

Combined Heat and Power provides a single fuel source to generate electricity and useful heat. The added unit is expected to support campus energy resiliency while reducing demand on the electrical grid.

Estimated Project Timeline
December 2026: obtain permits
January 2027: installation begins
December 2027: construction complete
March 2028: CHP #3 operational
